“In Apprenticeship to the Soul:

Writing, Dreaming, and Analyzing”

About Robin B. Zeiger, Ph.D.

ABOUT ME

I am a clinical psychologist and Jungian analyst with a lifelong passion for exploring the symbolic life. My journey has taken me across continents, weaving together clinical practice, teaching, and writing. I am the author of The Making of a Jungian Analyst: In Apprenticeship to the Soul (Cambridge Scholars Publishing) and other papers that explore the transformative power of dreams, imagery, and inner life.  I am a member and training analyst of the Israel Institute for Jungian Psychology in Honour of Erich Neumann and an international member of the International Association of Analytical Psychology.

SANDPLAY THERAPY

Alongside my analytic practice, I am deeply engaged in sandplay therapy, a healing method developed by Dora Kalff that allows the psyche to speak through images in the sand. Over the years, I have witnessed the way miniature worlds created in the sand can reveal deep unconscious processes and open pathways toward transformation. It is an honor to accompany children and adults alike as they discover their inner voices through this nonverbal, symbolic language of the soul.

WRITING AND BLOGS

Beyond my clinical work, I write regularly on Medium.com, where I share reflections that bring psychology into everyday life. My blogs explore dreams, symbols, personal stories, and moments of meaning, with the aim of making psychological ideas accessible to all. Whether through the lens of Jungian thought, sandplay imagery, or lived experience, I seek to invite readers into dialogue with the symbolic dimension of their own lives.

The Dreams Become My Guide…

The Yellow Brick Road and the Journey We Call Life

Earliest Dream Memory

A large witch’s cauldron is bubbling away in the middle of my living room.

A witch is chasing me around the pot.

My father is in the room and trying to help save me.

Though frightening, this dream became the seed of my lifelong dialogue with the unconscious. Like Dorothy on the yellow brick road, I learned that neither the wizard nor even my father could rescue me. Instead, I had to set off on my own path to discover truth. This dream foreshadowed the journey that eventually led me to Jungian analysis.

Today, I continue to trust dreams as faithful guides in my personal life and professional life. They invite us to face what is frightening, to uncover hidden strengths, and to listen for the symbolic voice of the soul. This dream stands at the beginning of my book, The Making of a Jungian Analyst, In Apprenticeship to the Soul, which is framed in dreams, symbols, and personal stories that have shaped my journey as an analyst and writer.

“From a childhood dream to my work as an analyst,

I have learned to trust the symbolic voice of the soul.”
